It Works If You Work It #1
Recovery becomes effective through consistent participation. The process works when it is practiced honestly, repeatedly, and with full engagement.
The condition is in the participation. I am beginning to see that “it works if you work it” is not automatic—it depends on how consistently and honestly I engage with it.
In the past, I sometimes judged whether something worked based on the outcome without fully examining my level of involvement. I might say something did not work, but I had not actually applied it consistently or with much discipline.
This idea shifts the focus back onto me. It is not only about whether the system is effective—it is also about whether I am working it as intended.
In recovery, the structure is already there—the meetings, the routines, and the principles. They are designed to work over time.
The variable is my level of engagement.
This also connects directly to accountability: if I am not seeing change, I have to honestly look at how I am showing up in the process.
For me, this concept is about consistency and responsibility. Today, I am trying to engage more fully with what is in front of me and trust that the results develop from that over time.
